Small business owners are confused and dissatisfied with their mobile communications packages, according to a new survey.
A quarter of small businesses do not understand enough about mobile technology to make an effective choice about mobile contracts, a report by T-Mobile has claimed.
More than a third said they currently pay too much for their firms’ mobile services, and one fifth said price plans were difficult to understand.
Reasons cited for the confusion and dissatisfaction were lack of flexibility, international call costs, poor customer service and a lack of tailor-made plans.
However, the survey also found that a third of small businesses have not reviewed their mobile costs for two or more years despite the crucial role mobile communications can play in a small business’ success.
Flexibility and the ability to handle customer enquiries quickly and efficiently is critical to success for small firms, according to successful entrepreneur and presenter of Channel 4’s Risking It All, Martin Webb.
“I know from my own experience that having email and internet access on the move is a great way to address this and compete with the big guys.
“Mobile communications can have such a positive impact on a growing business, and shouldn’t be neglected - particularly when there are costs involved.”
