Link, will become the UK base for Archimedes while its French and German operations will form the basis of the company’s European commercial operations.
Link is expected to record revenues of around £16m in 2006 and has a wide range of products including chemotherapy drug Gliadel, cancer pain drug Zomorph and the anti-emetic Nozinan.
Archimedes said the buy-out is a part of the company’s strategy of achieving growth through acquisitions and partnering.
Richard de Souza, chief executive officer, said: “The acquisition of Link fits perfectly with Archimedes strategy of growing our commercial presence through the acquisition of pharmaceutical companies or products in Europe.
“We gain a portfolio of specialist prescribed products which will generate immediate revenues and have considerable near and mid-term growth potential,” said de Souza.
“We also gain a commercial organisation and infrastructure that will enable us to launch new products on behalf of companies seeking a speciality pharmaceutical partner in Europe,” he added.
Archimedes, launched in 2004 with the backing of Warburg Pincus, is currently developing a drug designed to reduce pain in cancer patients, which should reach market by 2009.
