Smart421 is a specialist in the area of business applications integration and has a range of blue-chip clients, including O2, Norwich Union and UPC.

The company generated £11.1m turnover in the year ending June 2006, with a pre-tax profit of £1.5m.

The business also has gross assets of £6.6m, including a cash balance of £3.4m.

Smart421, which will be managed as a ‘discrete business entity’, and Kingston feel that the acquisition provides a complementary fit to its organisation.

“The group will benefit from the immediate extension of application-related skills, particularly through Smart421's Microsoft and IBM capabilities.”
