More than 70% of entrepreneurs would never go back to working for somebody else, research has revealed.

A survey conducted by Abbey Business Banking found that 77% of entrepreneurs would never return to their former 9 to 5 roles or being told what to do.

The East Midlands has no shortage of committed entrepreneurs, the research suggested, with 95% of business owners in this region certain they would never look back.

In contrast, more than half of entrepreneurs in Wales said that they would relinquish being their own boss and swap back to a regular job.

Ian Wilson, managing director of Abbey Business Banking, commented:

“Our research proves that the majority of entrepreneurs would not want to return to a 9 to 5 role working for somebody else.

“The benefits of running your own business obviously outweigh the negatives.

“Once people have taken the plunge they are unlikely to want to return to their old lifestyle no matter what problems they may encounter.”

Construction and catering entrepreneurs were found to be the most satisfied.

More than 90% of business owners in the construction industry said they would never return to their previous careers, while 88% of catering entrepreneurs said the same.
