The Environment Agency has called for companies with a high level of environmental performance to enter its new Environmental Pioneer Awards.
The awards will be judged by a panel led by Energy and Climate Change Secretary Chris Huhne MP, and will award businesses that consistently achieve outstanding results in one of eight categories including reducing carbon emissions, energy use, waste and environmental impact.
The panel is also looking for companies that have developed a pioneering product or innovation that is proven to significantly reduce waste, pollution, and energy use or carbon emissions.
Environment Agency Chief Executive, Dr Paul Leinster, said: “We have launched these awards to recognise those organisations who are leading the way on environmental performance, pioneering new ways to reduce emissions, pollution and resource use.”
He added: “I urge both private and public sector bodies to enter and hope that we are overwhelmed by the number of entries we receive. I am confident that the entrants will clearly demonstrate that reducing environmental impacts makes good business sense.”
Entries should be made before 8 October and can be made online at http://bit.ly/blvXJ3.
Short listing will take place on 18 October and the winners will be announced at the Environment Agency’s Environment 10 conference on 24 November in London.
