Nicko Williamson, founder of eco-taxi firm Climatecars and a 2010 Young Gun, has been named among the winners of the 2011 Ernst & Young Entrepreneur Of The Year awards.

Williamson, whose company now has a fleet of 80 hybrid cars and passed the £2m turnover mark in just four years, was one of 19 entrepreneurs honoured by Ernst & Young for their achievements in London and the South East region.

The judges, who included Moonpig chairman Nick Jenkins and WSP Group chief executive Christoper Cole, described the 27-year old as a “young Richard Branson” and “someone who is clearly going to go a long way.”

Williamson says he now plans to build on Climatecars’ impressive growth with the appointment of a new operations director and another sales person, taking the total number of staff to 19. He also plans to introduce pure electric vehicles within the next 12 months.

Discussing his latest accolade, Williamson said: "I am thrilled to have won the Entrepreneur of the year award.

“Climatecars has grown because of the hard work from all of our team and thanks to my investors who backed a slightly mad 23 year old.”
