Crispin Moger, founder of the Young Marmalade car insurance business a Young Gun of 2009, has launched a new retail centre in Peterborough.

Praised by Top Gear’s Richard Hammond for its “crazy name” and “clever idea”, Young Marmalade allows young drivers, and their parents, to purchase a car complete with insurance.

The new Young Driver Centre in Peterborough will showcase examples of cars available via the “buy a car with insurance” scheme, operate as a virtual showroom for new cars and introduce young drivers to Intelligent Marmalade - a solution which uses in-car technology to monitor a driver’s road skills, and provide insurance packages reflecting their safety.

According to Moger, who set up Young Marmalade in 2005, the new centre was “necessitated by growth”, as a doubling in staffing numbers had meant that the company’s previous offices in Whittlesey had become too small to accommodate.

Moger said: “We realise the percentage of our customers who can actually access us in Peterborough is relatively low, but hopefully this is just the first of many retail Young Driver Centres.

“It’s the first ‘shop’ in the UK where the sole purpose of the business is looking after young drivers and their parents.”
