Claire Mason, the founder of B2B PR firm Man Bites Dog and a 2010 Young Gun, has been appointed to handle the European PR brief of global management consultancy Hay Group.

The appointment, which followed a five-way competitive pitch, will see Man Bites Dog take responsibility for directing Hay Group’s media outreach and European PR activities across 25 different European countries.

Mason and her team will also deliver campaigns, and a best practice programme, to support Hay Group’s regional teams.

Hay Group was one of Man Bites Dog’s founding clients, and the two companies have since worked together for more than six years, delivering strategies for Hay’s UK retained PR, alongside a range of global projects.

Hayley Brooksbank, head of European marketing for Hay Group, said: “Man Bites Dog really impressed us at the pitch with their creativity and enthusiasm.

“They presented a very well thought out plan of how to deal with our issues, and we know the quality of their service and delivery from our UK work with them, so it was a very easy decision to make.”

Meanwhile, Mason said that the win signifies “a huge endorsement of our work and testament to the growth we’ve achieved over the last six years”.

She added that Man Bites Dog plans to increase its portfolio by “developing and co-ordinating high-level international campaigns in partnership with the Hay Group team.”

The announcement follows Man Bites Dog’s inclusion in The Holmes Report’s 2011 European Consultancy Report Card, which identified Man Bites Dog as one of Europe’s leading PR consultancies.
