A new web portal and Linkedin group have been launched to offer free advice for businesses on how to get the most from their online presence.
Created by author Ian Whiteling in conjunction with his book Online Marketing for Your Business, which is scheduled to be published in October, the portal
www.om4biz.com contains blogs from web experts on how companies can promote themselves better over the internet.
Meanwhile, Whiteling’s social media discussion group, which can be accessed by clicking on the Linkedin icon on the om4biz home page, features a panel of experts ready to answer the queries of businesses looking to develop their web presence.
“Most business websites still act merely as shop windows, whereas with the right guidance companies can quickly turn them into strategic marketing tools,” said Whiteling.
“My book aims to do just that. But to really walk the talk I wanted to create an online portal that bridges a key knowledge gap by bringing together the online marketing and growing business communities to share knowledge and solve problems.”
Companies simply join the Online Marketing for Your Business Linkedin group and can then post up queries on anything from website design, implementation and content to search engine optimisation, email marketing, internet advertising and social media. Businesses can also pick up daily tips and follow the progress of Whiteling’s book on Twitter at
twitter.com/om4biz.
“The internet and social media are free resources that allow businesses to take control of their marketing and engage more directly with their target audiences,” added Whiteling.
“Used in the right way, they can raise a company’s profile, while building kudos and loyalty, which are priceless assets in an increasingly competitive business environment. My book will show companies how to do this, and the om4biz portal will offer valuable help and support.”
