Prime minister David Cameron and opposition leader Ed Miliband are set to take leading roles in the Federation of Small Businesses’ (FSB’s) annual conference in Liverpool next month.

Mr Cameron will deliver a video address to the conference, discussing the importance of small firms to the UK economy, while Mr Miliband is expected to attend in person.

Business secretary Vince Cable has been invited to deliver an address to delegates at the BT Convention Centre, while small business minister Mark Prisk is also likely to be present.

The FSB hopes that the event, which will take place between March 17 and 19, will show Britain’s entrepreneurs exactly how the country’s leading politicians plan to support them over the coming months.

John Walker, chairman of the FSB, said:

"At the annual conference this year, small businesses will be looking to hear exactly what growth stimulus political parties plan to put in place to help them do what they know best - grow, innovate and create jobs."
