Same-day local courier business Shutl – founded by Growing Business’ 2007 Top Gun Tom Allason – has been shortlisted for the 2012 eCommerce Awards for Excellence, alongside brands such as LOVEFILM, Virgin Media and Debenhams.
The awards, which will take place at the eCommerce Expo on 2nd October, aim to recognise and reward achievements in the online commerce sphere. Shutl is one of six finalists in the eCommerce Innovation Award category.
Shutl was launched in 2010 by Tom Allason, having achieved success with his previous online courier business eCourier. It aims to connect online businesses and local couriers, enabling customers to receive their online shopping within a day or less. The nomination is the latest in a number of recognitions the company has received in the past year, including winning Best Use of Innovation at the Paypal Etail awards and winning the Startups 100 award.
CEO Allason said: “It’s been a good year for us at Shutl – as of Christmas we were really only in London and now we’ve expanded our coverage to 70% of the UK with 90% expansion by the end of the year.
Delivery is the number one cause of customer dissatisfaction with buying online and the single largest problem with e-commerce in general – which we’re solving. This is an area where we’re leading the world and we’ve definitely seen an increase in momentum with new customers coming on board.”
