Picklive, the online live fantasy football game founded by Young Gun of 2010 Tim Morgan, has been shortlisted for a 2011 Guardian Innovation award.
In particular the company’s ‘Five Minute Fantasy Football' game attracted the judges’ attention and led to the gaming website being shortlisted in the 'Technology Breakthrough Business' category.
Commenting on the award, Morgan said: “We're very proud to be representing the UK with the most disruptive game-changing technology in this market. We're really pleased and grateful to the Guardian for recognising what we've done and where we're headed."
Taking place in real-time during televised matches, Picklive contestants select a team of three players who then accumulate points for all of their actions on the pitch, including passes, tackles, interceptions and shots. The result is a blend of fantasy sports and in play betting.
The gaming site was also highly commended in the Techcrunch Europe Awards 2010.
Picklive is backed by angel investor Stefan Glaenzer, who has also invested in music site Last.fm and beauty and salon group buying site Wahanda.
