Small and medium sized companies could gain ‘a unique marketing message’ by taking part in a new tree planting project setup to celebrate the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee.

That’s according to woodland charity, The Woodland Trust, which says their new sponsorship opportunity offers businesses an alternative to spending money on marketing at the Olympics, and could help boost companies’ image and growth.

Ahead of the Queen’s 60th wedding anniversary next year, the charity has launched its £10m Jubilee Woods Project, which has the support of the monarch. The project will encourage UK businesses to sponsor and create hundreds of Jubilee community woods throughout the UK.

According to the Trust, small and medium-sized enterprises will benefit from gaining a unique marketing message, which will help publicise their sustainability credentials to stake-holders.

Stephanie Henderson, fundraising manager at the Woodland Trust, said: "We feel the Queen's Diamond Jubilee offers a fantastic opportunity for businesses to show their customers they also care and support woodland and the UK environment.

"A lot of businesses have also decided not to get involved in the Olympics but are still looking for opportunities to take advantage of in 2012. The Queen's Jubilee will enjoy huge national and global recognition which makes the Jubilee Woods Project such a great opportunity for SMEs.”

Businesses can support the project for as little as £500. Packages provide opportunities to engage, support and help local communities celebrate the jubilee.
